Connect with your breath…

We hear it all the time in a yoga class. Connect with your breath. Find your breath. But what does this actually mean?

The breath is such an integral part of yoga but of course it is also our life force - known in Hindu as Prana.

To connect with the breath is to simply be aware of each inhalation and exhalation. As we do this or learn specific breathing techniques (pranayama) we begin to journey inwards, freeing the mind so we are less distracted by our thoughts and more in tune with the connection between mind, body and breath.

Let the breath come first. Let it guide your movement. It is this relationship between breath and physical movement that makes yoga unique.
